Utility Crew Leader

$2,000 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after successful completion of probationary period.

Hiring Range: $23.73 - $30.86/hour (DOE)

The City of Salisbury is seeking motivated candidates who will work in the Distribution and Collections Systems Division performing difficult technical work planning, directing, and leading a team in repairing and maintaining water and wastewater lines and service connections. In addition, crews install new taps, repair and replace fire hydrants and valves, and maintain outfall lines. Main duties of the Crew Leader include but are not limited to overseeing and directing the activity of a water or sewer maintenance crew; receiving and responding to concerns or complaints from citizens, business owners and other City departments; using heavy equipment including track excavators, dump trucks, sewer jetters and other construction or preventive maintenance equipment; using tools to install, repair and replace infrastructure; and documenting completed work. Position will require working in an on-call rotation.

Minimum Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED and extensive experience in the installation and maintenance of water and sewer lines with some supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent customer service and positive leadership skills.
• Possession of NC Distribution and/or Collections certifications, or ability to obtain.
• Valid NC Driver’s License - Class A CDL or ability to obtain.
