The City of Lexington is seeking a progressive and detail oriented Wastewater Plan Chief Mechanic who will use their talents and leadership skills to help protect Lexington’s natural resources.

Attributes of ideal candidate: thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, tools and techniques of equipment repair associated with water and wastewater treatment plants; attention to detail and accuracy of data; ability to diagnose mechanical trouble in machines and mechanical and electrical equipment; ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates; and ability to prepare plans and detailed reports and maintain records.

The Wastewater Plant Chief Mechanic performs difficult semi-skilled work in overseeing the installation, repair and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and three to five years’ experience in the mechanical trades;
  • Driver’s license valid in NC and good driving record;
  • Ability to work regularly.


Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Paid bi-weekly.
