GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under limited supervision, this employee performs supervisory and technical work in the inspection of large and/or complex sanitary sewer utility construction and related facilities to enforce District standards, approved plans, and specifications in areas of new construction and existing structures concerning the sewerage district. The employee reviews and studies building code regulations to stay abreast of all changes and is required to exercise considerable independent judgment in applying standards to a variety of work situations. Reports to the Director of Construction.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Design or an Associate degree in General Construction.
(A combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform job tasks may be substituted for educational requirements.)
• 10+ years of experience in sanitary/heavy utility construction and inspection, applying the knowledge of approved practices, material and equipment, and Federal, State, and local safety rules and regulations.
• Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of contractors, construction professionals, and the general public.
• Applicants must be proficient in computer programs and other methods used to document construction inspector activities and understand the importance of thoroughly recording this information.
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina.
