The North Carolina Rural Water Association (NCRWA) is seeking a skilled and service-oriented Technical Water Circuit Rider to join our team. In this critical role, you will provide hands-on, on-site technical support to rural and small public water systems throughout North Carolina. Your work will help ensure safe, sustainable water services in communities across the state.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on-site technical assistance to water system operators and managers
  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Provide guidance on water treatment, distribution, and system operation
  • Prepare reports, deliver training, and participate in public presentations
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of training seminars

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of proven technical experience in water treatment and distribution required
    • North Carolina water operator certifications (treatment and/or distribution) strongly preferred
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Solid understanding of public water system operations, challenges, and solutions
    • Familiarity with water system development, public finance, and regulatory compliance
  • Computer Proficiency:
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and general internet/email usage
  • Communication & Training:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Comfortable delivering presentations and conducting training sessions for technical and public audiences

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the state, including overnight stays
  • Must be able to attend a minimum of three events annually that require overnight stays and travel to other states
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
