Full Time (40 Hours/week), entry or advanced level position, performs a variety of operational, laboratory, and maintenance duties designed to produce safe treatment of domestic and commercial waste materials. Work is performed on an assigned or rotating shift. Work includes monitoring the plant’s operation through observation, mechanical readings and the results of standard chemical and biological tests and to make necessary adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate. Other duties include performing standard laboratory duties and tests and assisting with plant and facilities maintenance and cleaning. Work also includes substantial record keeping of work activities.
Possess a North Carolina Grade 1 Wastewater Operator’s Certification or have the ability to successfully complete the training for a Grade I Wastewater Operator’s Certificate within 12 months of employment and pass the exam for the same within eighteen months.
This full-time position has an expected starting salary of $20.57/hr. for fully qualified candidates possessing a North Carolina Grade I Wastewater Operator’s Certificate, additional salary consideration will be given for candidates possessing a North Carolina Grade 2 or above Wastewater Operator’s Certification. The expected starting salary for trainees not possessing a Grade I Wastewater Operator’s Certificate is $19.59/hr. There is an expected increase after satisfactorily completing the probationary period.
