Water Treatment Plant -Lead Operator             Town of Louisburg, NC

This is a skilled and technical position of Operation and Maintenance responsibilities for the Town of Louisburg Water Treatment Plant. 

Primary responsibilities include: performing hourly lab tests, monitoring SCADA, making needed adjustments for chemical applicatioins to maintain each process in its set range, unloading incoming chemical deliveries, switching out chlorine cylinders as needed, wash out settling basins and pump wells occassionally, and other operational duties. 

Assisting as Back-up ORC and having the ability to perform administrative responsibilities as needed such as: Payroll/Time Management, Operation scheduling, collection and testing of distribution samples/bacterialogical sampling and submitting various State Reports.

Light maintenance duties such as faciltiy lawncare, switching out small sample pumps and chemical pumps, maintaining the grounds/property at elevated water tank sites and booster pump station, generall housekeeping, etc.

Physical requirements to occissionally move 55 gallons drums of chemicals, abliltiy to climb up/down 40 ft. ladders, relocate 5 gallon buckets of chemicals, turn controls on valves/hydrants and other physical demanding tasks.

Scheduling consists of primarily 1st shift with 1 week/month 2nd shift, 1 weekend/month and 1 week/month as Relief/On-call =(7hrs.OT).  Currently no 3rd shift needed.

Desired Education/Experience Requirements:  Possession of Grade A-Surface Water Treatment Certification, Physical/Chemical 1 Certification, a valid NC Driver's License, Graduation from High School and College degree in chemistry/biology/other.

Expereience with reading gauges, charts, technical manuals, blueprints and other records pertaining to Water Treatment.  Be able to perform Laboratory analysis, follow verbal and written instructions.  Have the ability to handle conflicts or abnormal conditions using both tact, wisdom and common-sense to professionally handle rising issues in both treatment processes and staffing.  Must always maintain a professional and polite demenor when dealing with public and others in the profession.

Salary is based on Experience/Knowledge/Education, etc.                                                             (Min. $45,000,   Mid. $54,000  Max. $65,000)
