Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Town of Mount Olive is seeking a qualified Water Treatment Plant and Well System Operator to ensure the safe and efficient treatment of drinking water in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor treatment systems including pumps, valves, filters, and ozone disinfection.
• Manage water flow and residuals to meet quality standards.
• Calculate and adjust chemical dosages.
• Use SCADA systems to oversee water supply, transmission, and storage.
• Conduct lab tests and maintain compliance with water quality regulations.
• Maintain logs, reports, and system data.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist with major repairs.
• Handle hazardous chemicals and respond to spill events.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal training in water treatment is preferred.
• C-Well Water Treatment Certificate (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of water treatment operations and safety protocols.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot systems independently.
• Proficient in reading gauges, meters, and system diagrams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Visual acuity for inspections and monitoring.
• Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments and hazardous conditions.
• May require use of PPE including respirators.
