Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Maintenance Mechanic to perform advanced technical and mechanical work within our water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. This role is critical for the continuous operation, repair, and replacement of large-scale specialized equipment. You will handle complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical challenges, ensuring our community’s infrastructure remains efficient and compliant.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Troubleshooting & Repair:Diagnose and repair equipment failures involving mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and electronic systems.
• System Overhaul:Rebuild and overhaul defective parts, equipment, and instrumentation to restore them to optimal operating condition.
• Technical Maintenance:Maintain a variety of motors, pumps, and specialized equipment, including SCADA (electronic control) and hydraulic systems.
• System Integrity:Ensure all repairs are completed within strict time schedules to maintain overall system performance and safety.
• Collaboration:Act as a lead worker on specific projects, providing guidance to junior staff while working under regular supervision.
• Technical Expertise:Advanced journey-level skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and plumbing trades.
• Specialized Knowledge:Familiarity with wastewater/water treatment plant operations and SCADA systems.
• Physical Capability:Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding environments.
• Problem-Solving:Proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and implement effective technical solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

• Waste Water or Drinking Water Treatment Experience
• Waste Water, Drinking Water, Collections, or Distribution Certifications
• Plant Operations or Maintenance Experience

Position Requirements*

• Grade II Biological Wastewater Operator and/or
• B Surface Water Treatment Operator
