Environmental Services Supervisor

The City of Salisbury is seeking a qualified individual to oversee programs that protect the wastewater collection system and treatment plants to ensure that all environmental regulations and permit requirements are met or exceeded. Salisbury-Rowan Utilities is an innovative, regional water and wastewater utility currently experiencing unprecedented growth. Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and provide technical assistance related to the activities of a wastewater
laboratory, an industrial pretreatment program, and a FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) program.
• Serve as Compliance Officer and participate in various State inspections
• Monitor changes to state and federal regulations, and maintain and update departmental
plans, ordinances and SOPs as needed; prepare and manage a budget.
• Investigate complaints and take corrective action as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED and considerable experience in wastewater treatment plant or
  lab operations, or closely related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to wastewater
  collection, treatment and discharge.
• Valid NC driver’s license.
• Possession of NC Pretreatment Grade 1 and Wastewater Lab Analyst 1 certification, or ability
  to obtain within 18 months.
• Possession of NC Biological Wastewater Treatment certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or related field preferred.

Salary range: $61,209-$97,934

$2,000 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after the completion of a successful probationary period.
