The Water Resources Service Worker I, II, III performs responsible semi-skilled or skilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines and appurtenances for the Water Resources Maintenance and Construction  Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Water Resources Service Worker I

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Valid NC driver’s license or valid out-of-state driver’s license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within sixty days of employment and good driving record
  • Ability to obtain Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement within 12 months of employment
  • Complete confined space and trenching training within 6 months of employment  

Water Resources Service Worker II

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Grade II Collection certification or Grade C Water Distribution certification
  • Valid NC Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker endorsement or valid out-of-state Class B CDL with the ability to transfer to NC Class B CDL within sixty days of employment and good driving record
  • Two years of experience in maintenance and construction of water and sewer lines, operating equipment and making service connections
  • Ability to obtain flagger certification from NC Department of Transportation
  • Complete confined space and trenching training within 6 months of employment

Water Resources Service Worker III

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Grade III Collection Operator’s certificate or Grade B Water Distribution certificate
  • Valid NC Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker endorsement or valid out-of-state Class B CDL with the ability to transfer to NC Class B CDL within sixty days of employment and good driving record
  • Flagger certification from the NC Department of Transportation
  • Complete confined space and trenching training within 6 months of employment
  • Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and/or sewer lines, operating equipment, and making service connections

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. On-call rotation required. Paid bi-weekly.
