UTILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Town of Lucama is seeking a dependable, motivated self-starter to join our team as a Utility Maintenance Technician. This hands-on role helps support the reliable operation and maintenance of the Town’s water and sewer systems and other utility infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read utility meters.
• Assist with water testing.
• Repair water and sewer lines.
• Perform preventative maintenance on pump stations.
• Mow and maintain easements and rights-of-way.
• Participate in on-call and call-back duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One to two years of experience working for a public utility or water system.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The position requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Visual acuity is required to read gauges and dials, inspect moving machine parts, and create and review written records.

PAY AND BENEFITS

• Hiring rate: $41,811.
